With excellent weather for beginners this week the morning crew had a pleasant sail at the mouth of the river, a swim and a great lunch by the canteen crew. As always a huge thanks to all the volunteers who made the day a success, a fond farewell to Elijah Whitt who heads to Nepal in a few days time on a humanitarian adventure.
After lunch the sea breeze built for a perfect day of sailing with three races held. Mike Darby has the lions share of line honours, but Chris Symonds took home the bacon on VYC.
It was a day of tight battles for the remainder of the fleet with Sabre sailors Ben Maynard and Ella Klinger switching places around the course and showing me up on the starts.
Slightly more aggressive match racing from the pacer teams Ethan Price/ Leif Folden and Taylor Edmonds / Macy Edwards exchanging paint and laughter in what resembled dodgem boats rather than sailing. Firmly amidst the tightly packed bunch was Nick Jones and his crew Max and Viney doing a top job sailing with the big kids.
Next weeks we have morning sailing at 10am and hopefully more of the same.
